Be a hero!
The recycling is essential for many reasons.
Not only can it help reduce the pollution, but it also helps the environment of the island and the world.
Here are some benefits of recycling:
- We can improving our recycling habits, we can help keep the environment clean and preserve our natural resources.
- Conserves our natural resources
Contributes to the care of the planet
Some of the world’s natural resources are in short supply, and when we recycle, we help conserve these natural resources.
When we recycle paper, we save forests and trees. When we recycle plastic, it takes up a lot of solid waste and can take centuries to break down.

What items can we recycle in Baaxa?
When it comes to recycling, some items are more widely-recycled than others. These are the materials that are easily recycled and don’t reduce in quality once they’ve been recycled.
Aluminium
This is one of the most easily recycled materials, which is good news, considering how many drinks cans we use. Drinks cans can easily made into new cans with no loss in the quality of the material.
Mattresses
When recycling mattresses reduce the number illegally dumped mattresses. Conservation of resources by using old steel, foam, wood and another material to create new products.
Gas cylinders
Pressurized gas cylinders can’t just be thrown away like your normal garbage. Most gas cylinders are made of aluminum or steel, which are both valuable materials. So recycling isn’t just better for our environment, also for reducing costs.
Plastic
Thousands of animals are hurt or died every year because they get caught up in plastic bags and wrapping, or they choke from trying to eat them. Almost all plastics can be recycled into bottles, containers, furniture, clothes, insulation and building products.
Paper and cardboard
Paper and cardboard are usually easily recycled (unless it has excessive tape or embellishment attached or it is soiled). Newspapers in the UK are made exclusively from recycled paper.
Glass
Glass is easy to recycle and turn into other products like new jars, bottles, and road surfaces.
Household appliances
Almost anything around the house with a plug, can be recycled when you no longer need it. Recycling your unwanted white goods can help recover valuable materials such as metal and plastic as well as other non-renewable resources.
White goods include major household electronic appliances such as fridges, washing machines, clothes dryers, air conditioners, water heaters, ovens and stoves.
Burned cooking oil
Some of the many reasons to reuse and recycle used oil include:
- Recycling used oil keeps it from polluting soil and water.
- Motor oil does not wear out—it just gets dirty—so recycling it saves a valuable resource.
- Less energy is required to produce a gallon of re-refined base stock than a base stock from crude oil.
- One gallon of used motor oil provides the same 2.5 quarts of lubricating oil as 42 gallons of crude oil.
